ACT

ACT is a mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy which has shown promise for a wide variety of health and mental health problems. ACT training workshops are different from the usual slog of powerpoint slides. They are engaging, experiential, and personally meaningful because participants are encouraged to learn ACT by doing ACT.

Louisiana and Mississippi Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) Affiliate Conference
July 26-27, 2019

Kelly Wilson, an ACT co-founder, is retiring from the University of Mississippi in 2019. The first biannual LaMiss ACBS conference will feature the successes of his students, grandstudents, and great-grandstudents. We plan to incorporate some of the things he loves most – yoga, barefoot running, geeky talks that touch the heart, and seriously strong coffee. Kelly Wilson will also be delivering the closing keynote address – The Last Lecture.

I am honored to be an invited speaker. My talk is entitled Doing ACT functionally: What I learned from Kelly Wilson, his books, and his labbies.
